Our Amazing Instructors

Narelle

Narelle, owner of Reformer Pilates Heathmont, came to Pilates more than a decade ago accidentally and stayed. Expect calves, triceps, glutes and the occasional dramatic sigh from participants, usually accompanied by an 80s or 90s playlist. She’s also a naturopath working from the studio.

Narelle

Narelle came to Pilates more than a decade ago quite accidentally and, as it turns out, never really left. What began as curiosity quickly turned into teaching, and these days she spends a good portion of her time introducing people to muscles they didn’t realise existed.

As the owner of Reformer Pilates Heathmont, Narelle has created a studio that is welcoming, down-to-earth and refreshingly free of fitness intimidation. You don’t need to arrive wearing expensive activewear or already able to touch your toes. You just need to turn up.

Alongside Pilates, Narelle is also a qualified naturopath and runs her clinic from the studio. This means conversations about sleep, stress, hormones and the strange ways the human body behaves are never far away.

Her classes are practical, a little challenging and often accompanied by an 80s or 90s playlist. Participants can expect calves, triceps, glutes and at least one moment where the core exercises prompt a few dramatic sighs or muttered complaints. This is generally taken as a sign that things are working as intended.

Narelle enjoys working with people who simply want their bodies to behave themselves a bit better — whether that means fewer mysterious aches, stronger legs or glutes that remember they exist.

For Narelle, the studio is more than a place to exercise. It’s a place where people can turn up as they are, get on a reformer, have a laugh, discover their glutes again, and leave feeling like their body has done something useful for the day.

And occasionally complain about the calves.

Roberta

Roberta’s background in calisthenics and dance shows up in her classes. She may seem gentle, but she’s very good at waking up muscles you didn’t realise had gone to sleep. Roberta is a Clinical Pilates instructor teaching private, small group and reformer classes.

Roberta

Roberta is our powerhouse of enthusiasm, experience and a genuine love of movement. We suspect this might have something to do with her background in calisthenics and dance, which gave her a strong foundation in strength, balance and coordination long before she stepped into a Pilates studio.

She has a wonderful ability to work with people of all ages, from the young to the young at heart, and creates a welcoming space where everyone feels supported while still being gently challenged.

Don’t let Roberta’s calm and friendly nature fool you though — she has a knack for finding just the right exercise to wake up muscles you didn’t realise had gone to sleep.

Roberta is a qualified Clinical Pilates instructor, which means she brings a deeper understanding of movement and rehabilitation into her sessions. She teaches private sessions, small group classes and some of our group reformer classes, helping people build strength, stability and confidence in how their bodies move.

Abi

Abi brings a calm, friendly approach to her classes, although don’t be fooled — she’s very good at quietly finding muscles you forgot you had. She enjoys helping people build confidence on the reformer while sneaking in exercises that leave your core wondering what just happened.

Abi

Abi brings a calm and friendly energy to the studio, creating classes that feel welcoming and supportive from the moment you walk in.

However, regular participants have discovered that Abi is also something of a smiling assassin when it comes to exercise selection. Her gentle approach often hides a talent for quietly introducing movements that wake up muscles you didn’t realise had been taking a long break.

Alongside teaching reformer Pilates, Abi is also a qualified Personal Trainer, bringing a strong understanding of strength training and movement into her classes.

Abi also teaches our senior classes, where her patience, encouragement and clear guidance help participants build confidence, strength and balance in a supportive environment.

Her classes are approachable and encouraging, but participants usually leave with a clear reminder that their core, legs and glutes have definitely done some work.
